A family music day is taking place in the gardens of Sir Edward Heath’s former home.

The free Family Music Activity Day will be held at Arundells, in Salisbury, on Sunday, June 29, offering a day of hands-on musical exploration, creative activities and live performances.

The event is supported by the Cosman Keller Art and Music Trust.

The day will have a variety of music-based activities on offer for attendees. (Image: Arundells) Luke Futcher, events and marketing manager at Arundells, said: "This is one of the highlights of our summer calendar.

"It’s a chance for families to make music together, explore the house and gardens, and enjoy a welcoming, inclusive day out — all completely free of charge."

Visitors can enjoy sound exploration sessions for children, a family ceilidh with folk music and dancing, and sea shanty singalongs with the Wareham Whalers.

JUMP, a playful and immersive musical journey celebrating nature through sound and storytelling, will also take place.

There will be a chance to play Sir Edward Heath’s Steinway piano and take part in music-themed art activities in the Craft Tent.

Other highlights include a pop-up garden café and Joanna’s Gelato van serving artisan ice cream.

All activities are drop-in and flexible, so families can join in at any time.

Arundells was the home of Sir Edward Heath, who served as prime minister from 1970 to 1974.

Located in Cathedral Close, the house and gardens are open to the public and regularly host cultural events.

This year, Arundells won the Visitor Experience Award at the Salisbury Business Excellence Awards.

No tickets are required for the Family Music Activity Day.

Entry to the house and gardens will also be free for the day.

Full event details and timings are available on the Arundells website.
