Police made an arrest after a Volkswagen Golf driver was spotted driving dangerously around Ashton and Plungington at the weekend.

Officers chased the driver at around 2am on Saturday (May 31).

The driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, disqualified driving, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and driving without insurance. 

A police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 2am on Saturday morning patrols pursued a black VW Golf around the Ashton and Plungington area.

“The driver, a local male, was arrested for drink driving, disqualified driving, dangerous driving, failing to stop for Police and driving without insurance.

"He was remanded to attend court and has since been remanded into prison!

“Results like this should make you think twice before getting behind the wheel of a car after drinking or taking drugs.

"Our officers are determined to make the roads a safer place for everyone and will take action against those who choose to commit offences.”
