Firefighters have completed a rescue training operation on board an iconic Southampton ship.
Redbridge, St Mary’s and Hightown crews have boarded the SS Shieldhall for a rescue exercise.
Redbridge Station Manager, Andy Piper explained: “The training involved firefighters from across the Southampton group, performing a rescue of a person stuck beneath the deck onboard the SS Shieldhall in the city’s docks.

“Redbridge, St Mary’s and Hightown crews were able to work together to lift the casualty using their rope rescue skills and equipment.
“These training exercises are invaluable for our teams, as they allow them the opportunity to practice their skills in real-life settings beyond the fire station, ensuring they are prepared to respond effectively to similar incidents and help save lives.
“Thank you to the team at the SS Shieldhall for allowing the crews access to their facilities in order to conduct this vital learning opportunity.”
