Christchurch’s Iford Bridge crosses the River Stour and connects Christchurch and Bournemouth

The bridge consists of three sections, each with its own distinct history and architectural style.

The easternmost section dates back to the late 18th or early 19th century and is constructed of red brick with stone coping.

The middle section, built in the mid-17th century, is made of ashlar stone and features four round-headed arches.

The westernmost section, also from the late 18th century, complements the middle section’s architectural style.

The bridge has undergone various alterations and repairs over the centuries, including the blocking of some arches.

It is a Grade II listed building, recognised for its historical and architectural significance.
