A nine-year-old Rubik's cube whizz reached the final in a national competition in the last event before his trip to Seattle for the world championships.
Jacob Melotti managed to set personal records in the 3x3, Pyraminx and Skewb events at the Kewbz Scottish Championship 2025 on May 24.
He fought through more than 150 competitors to reach the final of the Pyraminx challenge, and his 6.14 solve time earned him a 30th place finish.
Jacob also reached the semi-finals of the main event, which sees who can complete the traditional three-by-three cube fastest.

The Sholing Junior School pupil will be the youngest person from the UK to compete in the event in July.
His father Rob Melotti said: "I have to remind myself sometimes that his level is so good for such a young age.
"There were very few other junior school students in the final rounds — he has time on his hands to improve still, but he's already achieving so much.
"He's fast across eight different puzzles, and getting better."
