A Southampton primary school has been told it is a good school following a visit from Ofsted inspectors.
St Denys Primary School in Dundee Road, Southampton, was given the rating by Ofsted following the inspection on April 23 and 24 this year.
The school has 206 pupils aged between four and 11 with inspectors finding that "pupils are immensely proud of their school. They arrive at the start of the day brimming with enthusiasm and excitement. Everyone is welcome at this school."
Continuing, the inspector added: "The school ensures that teachers are supported well with their subject knowledge.
"They emphasise subject-specific vocabulary, so that pupils use it accurately. For example, in English pupils demonstrate their understanding of grammatical terms.
"Staff use a range of approaches to help pupils to remember their learning."
Ofsted also said that pupils are confident and skilled readers.
Headteacher Billy Davies said, "We are really pleased that our recent visit from Ofsted reflected the relationship the school has with pupils, parents and the community which the school serves.
"The school prides itself on being a small village primary school in the middle of a big city, where everyone is valued for who they are and supported to be the person they want to be."

The inspector continued: "The school sets high expectations for pupils’ behaviour. Pupils behave well because they know exactly what is expected of them.
"They know the meaning of the school’s learning powers and why they matter. Year 6 ambassadors are proud to act as role models to others.
"Pupils value many opportunities to assume leadership roles and to contribute to
school decisions.
"For example, the school council were delighted to have organised a successful talent show and a bake sale to raise funds for playtime equipment."
The members of the governing body were also credited by the inspectors for supporting and challenging school leaders appropriately.
This is the second ungraded inspection since Ofsted judged the school to be good for overall effectiveness in April 2015.
