A team of Southampton nurses who help cancer patients reach milestones every day through new research, are urging people across the city to join them at Race for Life.

Cancer Research UK-funded senior research nurse, Kerry Fitzpatrick and her team, will be taking part in the charity’s events on Southampton Common on Saturday June 21st.

Kerry and her staff are also attending several Race for Life events along the south coast to share how funds raised are helping treat over 200 types of cancer.

Kerry said: “My team help to deliver the early phase clinical trials and we see how the money raised for Cancer Research UK allows people to have one more Christmas with their family, or live long enough to walk their daughter down the aisle.

"Funds raised at Race for Life are enabling us to do what we do and give people the chance to make special memories with their loved ones.”

Since it began in 1994, more than 10 million people have taken part in Race for Life, contributing millions of pounds towards life-saving research.
