A care home is offering free haircuts and pampering sessions in a dementia-friendly salon.
Speedwell Court, a residential home in Southampton managed by the Abbeyfield Living Society, will host a special Charity Hairdresser Day on June 13.
The event is aimed at people living with dementia and their carers, offering them a relaxing salon experience in a calm and supportive environment.
Justine Owen, customer relations manager at Speedwell Court, said: "We know that going for a haircut may be an intimidating, stressful, and uncomfortable experience for someone with dementia.
"Most would prefer a quiet, calm environment, free from loud noises, activity and other distractions that you might find in a normal high street shop – which our on-site salon can offer.
"We hope that the Charity Hairdresser Day will give people living with dementia from our local area a great experience, like the one that our residents enjoy on a regular basis, and we would also love to spoil their carers too.
"The day will also provide the opportunity to get a better understanding of what goes on at a care home, and to bust some of the widespread myths that often lead to a negative impression of what it’s like to live at one."

The salon, located at Speedwell Court on Mansbridge Road, will be open for appointments between 10am and 3pm.
Each guest will receive a haircut, treatment, and pampering session delivered by Always Glamorous Hair and Beauty.
While the service is free, the home is suggesting a donation of £5 per person.
All funds raised will go to Mountbatten Hampshire, a nearby community hospice and end-of-life care provider.
The event is part of Abbeyfield Week, an annual celebration of the Abbeyfield Living Society’s care homes.
Justine said: "Mountbatten Hampshire is just down the road from us, and we know the fantastic work they do.
"This is our way of supporting a great organisation in our local community."
