An all-female version of Macbeth is set to take to the stage.
Titchfield Festival Theatre (TFT) is planning to present Shakespeare’s tragedy with a twist from June 24 until July 3.
The production will be the fourth time that the play has been performed at Titchfield’s Great Barn, but only the second time that it has been performed with an all-female cast, with the previous all-female performance taking place in 2014.
The Great Barn, a 15th-century venue, will host the play and is "raw, atmospheric, and unlike any other theatre space" according to director Daniel Vaughan, who also works as TFT's wardrobe coordinator.
Daniel said: "Titchfield’s Great Barn is an extraordinary venue to perform in; raw, atmospheric, and unlike any other theatre space.
"It has a kind of historic gravity that adds so much depth and texture to the storytelling.
"Titchfield Festival Theatre is bursting with incredibly talented women, and it’s important that these voices are heard.
"This play provides the perfect opportunity.
"By assembling an all-female cast, I’ve been able to spotlight some of the strongest performers we have and offer a fresh lens on one of Shakespeare’s most iconic plays.
"It’s about giving space to new interpretations, voices, and dynamics that can reframe what the audience thinks they know about Macbeth."
The director hopes audiences will leave reinvigorated by a play they may think they already know, seeing it through fresh eyes and feeling its urgency, emotional weight, ambition, and tragedy in a surprising way.

Daniel added: "This interpretation is rooted in the human connections - what drives each character, what fractures them, and how they influence one another.
"It’s less about the grandeur of battle and more about the psychological warfare.
"We’ve really honed in on the emotional undercurrents: loyalty, guilt, grief, ambition, and love.
"By understanding those relationships in more depth, the tragedy of the play becomes all the more poignant and relatable."
TFT is one of the UK’s largest community theatre groups, with three venues situated along the south coast of Hampshire.
