A retrospective application to turn part of a MOT garage into a licensed "motorcycle café" has been refused by New Forest District Council.
777 Motorcycle Café on Gosport Street in Lymington was a garage for over 30 years before it opened up as a coffee and food venue in October.
Retrospective plans were in turn submitted in March, requesting to use the building as a café, but also as a MOT shop and motorbike garage.
Some 19 objections were lodged against the application, with local residents explaining concerns about fire escape routes being blocked, the proximity of the café to a listed building and the odour coming from the venue.
The plans were eventually refused.
In the officers report, planning inspectors said: "It is considered that the proposed use has resulted in a harmful intensification of use, which has resulted in levels of noise, activity and disturbance that is harmful to the amenity of surrounding residential occupiers (and which would continue to be so)."
777 Motorcycle Café declined to comment.
