An application to turn a ground-floor office into a flat has been approved by Southampton City Council officers.
The office at 12A Portsmouth Road will now become a single-storey flat after permission was granted, creating just one extra house through the conversion.
One-bedroom will cater for the eventual occupants of the flat.
The ground floor has been used for office purposes for at least two years before the application was made, as said in the planning statement, and existing parking arrangements will be maintained.

Applicants said: "Development of this site in the manner proposed would achieve more efficient use of these commercial premises without harm to the character of the locality, the amenities of neighbours or users of the public highway."
Permission has been granted conditionally and the conversion must be completed within three years of the approval.
Bin and cycle storage facilities must also be put in place before anybody moves in and occupies the new flat.
