Residents of Snowdrop Place Care Home were treated to a visit from antiques expert Karen Dalmeny.
The renowned expert, known for her appearances on TV shows such as Dickinson's Real Deal and Cash in the Attic, visited the Hedge End care home for a special antiques evaluation day.
The event, held in the care home's community lounge, gave residents, staff, and visitors the chance to learn more about the history and value of their antiques and collectables.
Items brought in included vintage jewellery, heirloom china, and rare books.
One particularly memorable item was a family Bible written entirely in shorthand, brought in by resident Betty.
She said: "It was passed down to me years ago, and I’ve always found it fascinating.
"I studied shorthand when I was younger, so I can read some of it, but it’s still quite a puzzle.
"No one else in the family has ever been able to make sense of it, so it’s always felt like a bit of a secret treasure."
Karen said: "Betty’s shorthand Bible was absolutely fascinating—truly one of my favourite items of the day.
"You don’t come across something like that very often.
"It’s not only rare but also a beautiful piece of personal and linguistic history."
