Should we celebrate that the South Western Railway has been renationalised?
The first train company to transfer to public ownership under Labour.
I am not so sure.
It seems private or state-owned our railways flounder year after year, and I am not confident that this will change anytime soon.
Listening to government ministers, we should not expect cheaper fares, which is the main complaint that rail users have.
Britain might have been the first country in the world with a railway network, but for some reason, we have always been last when comes to creating a fit-for-purpose integrated railway system.
