The following cases were heard at Southampton Magistrates' Court:

JEREMY O’REGAN, 20, of Channel Way, Southampton, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault by beating of an emergency worker after he assaulted two police constables on January 22 in Southampton. He was handed a 16-month community order and is subject to alcohol abstinence and monitoring for 54 days. He must complete up to 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days, pay £100 compensation and a £850 fine. The sentence was “uplifted” as the offences were committed against emergency workers. He must pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £114 surcharge.

ANTON NICKLE-BELCHER, 22, of Phillimore Road, Southampton, admitted three charges of common assault of an emergency worker after he assaulted three police officers in Phillimore Road, Southampton, on February 18. He was handed an 18-month community order and must attend up to 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days. He must pay £50 compensation to each victim and was ordered to pay a £120 fine. He must also pay prosecution costs of £30.

DWAIN WARD, 41, of Rozel Court, Southampton, pleaded guilty to four charges of theft, concerning four separate incidents. On January 30 at Salon Services, Southampton, he stole clippers and hair straighteners worth £747.35, on March 2 he stole various items worth £300 from One Stop, Southampton, and on April 5 he stole bacon and sausages worth £50 from One Stop, Southampton. He also stole bacon and chocolate worth £160 from One Stop on March 22. He was handed a 13-week custodial sentence due to his “lack of compliance during a suspended sentence”. He must pay £372.50 in compensation. No order for costs was made.

MARK HIGGINS, 36, of Adelaide Road, Southampton, admitted a charge of sexual assault after he intentionally touched a woman aged 16  in summer last year in Southampton. He will appear at Southampton Crown Court on June 11 to be sentenced.
