A Totton-based charity has received a generous donation boost from a foundation.

Youth and Families Matter (YFM) has been awarded £2,000 by the Churchill Foundation, which is the charitable arm of Churchill Living.

The charity supports people in the area, providing education and training to help individuals improve their circumstances.

The donation will enable them to continue to provide these services to the community.

YFM has been doing this work for more than 30 years and was recognised for its efforts in 2020 with the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.

YFM project leader, Kelly Price, said: "We’re extremely grateful to the Churchill Foundation for this generous donation, which makes a big difference to a grassroots charity of our size.

"It will help us to keep funding the unique one-to-one support we provide to children who really need it, and where our ability to work together with local schools and provide help at an early stage is such an essential lifeline."

The donation was made through the Churchill Foundation’s Small Grants programme after being nominated by Alex Naraian, Churchill’s head of technical.

Alex has a personal connection to the charity and joined other Churchill staff members on May 21 to learn more about the work carried out by YFM.

Alex said: "The Churchill Foundation was created to help us give something back to the communities where we live and work.

"I feel very privileged to be able to do this for YFM, a charity that makes a huge difference to so many people here in Totton."

The support enables YFM to continue its vital work in Totton, including one-to-one support for those in need, hardship support, and various targeted projects.
