A care home has won a 'good' Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating and hosted a party to celebrate.

Maypole Bupa Care Home in Southampton was rated 'good' by the CQC after an inspection.

The care home provides personal care and nursing for up to 68 residents.

This rating came as inspectors assessed Maypole across multiple areas including care quality, safety, hygiene standards, food offering, and staff wellbeing.

It was particularly praised for its risk management procedures, cleanliness, and positive culture of safety.

The inspection team had discussions with residents, staff, healthcare professionals, and relatives to determine the overall quality of care.

Feedback gained was highly positive, with particular appreciation for the home’s management.

A content resident said: "The people who work here are delightful, some are exceptional.

"I’ve been cared for beautifully and I’m very happy here."

Maypole isn’t only home to excellent care but is also full of activities to keep residents engaged both physically and mentally.

Quizzes, board games, music events, and arts and crafts are just a few on offer.

Relatives of those in the care home also expressed their satisfaction, stating they were confident that any concerns would be swiftly dealt with and improvements promptly made.

They said: "If I phone to ask about something, I always get a good response."

The wholesome feedback and successful rating led to a celebration at the home, featuring refreshments and live music from local entertainers Utter Buskers.
