A care home in Hedge End has been praised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for supporting the wellbeing of its staff.

The CQC rated Maypole Bupa Care Home on Lower Northam Road "good" in assessment from January 21 to February 8.

The regulator's report said that the home was inspected after the CQC received "concerns about the management of medicines, care planning" and "personal care".

But the CQC concluded that Maypole was "good" in all areas, including safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led.

The home, which provides nursing and personal care for up to 68 residents, was particularly praised for its risk management and food offering.

Maypole's hygiene standards were also an area of strength, along with the proactive and positive culture of safety and support for wellbeing of staff.

The home threw a party in celebration as staff, residents and family members came together in the gardens.

Home manager Raymond Arnold said: "The whole team here at Maypole are delighted to retain good status by the CQC.

"It is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the team at Maypole.

"We hosted a party to celebrate the news, and share our thanks to our residents, staff, and their families for helping shape Maypole into the wonderful home it is."
