A hotel has submitted plans to build two new padel tennis courts.

The Village Hotel, in Bournemouth Road, Chandler's Ford, has applied for planning permission to build the courts.

The courts will be built on a grassed area within the hotel's boundary and will be surrounded by an arched canopy.

This canopy will allow play in all weather conditions and will absorb noise.

The padel courts will be available to hotel guests and the public who have memberships with the hotel.

Padel is a fast-growing racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash, played in doubles on smaller courts enclosed by walls.

It is known for being easy to learn and play, making it attractive to beginners and families.

The planning statement from the Pegasus Group, on behalf of VUR Village Trading No.1 Limited, says the development will supplement the hotel's existing leisure options.

The courts will be installed to the south of the hotel car park.

Each court will be 20 metres long by 10 metres wide and enclosed by a three-metre-high screen.

The statutory decision date for the application is July 9.
