More than 600 students attended a careers event to learn about job roles.

The Get Inspired Southampton and New Forest event took place on May 8 at the O2 Guildhall in Southampton.

The event, which was sponsored by Balfour Beatty, was held in partnership with Southampton City Council, New Forest District Council and Barratt Developments plc.

It aimed to teach students about different career paths through interactive activities.

"Students have benefitted from quality interactions with local businesses and career horizons have been broadened for the young people."

Megan Hamlyn, marketing manager at Barratt Developments, said: "EBP South’s Get Inspired events are a fantastic way to show young people the broad range of opportunities available to them, and we are delighted to be event partner for Get Inspired Southampton and New Forest 2025."

Of the students who attended, 93 per cent said they learnt about job types or careers they didn't know about before.
