The investigation into a serial flasher who targeted lone women continues one year on.

Police are continuing to pull resources together to catch the repeat offender who was reported to have indecently exposed himself in Riverside Park on May 2, 2024.

Two people have been arrested during the investigation so far.

A 34-year-old man from Southampton was arrested last year and has been released with no further action taken, while a 20-year-old man from Southampton was apprehended on March 26.

He is on bail while enquiries continue.

Three women – a 16-year-old girl, a woman in her 30s, and a woman in her forties – were among those targeted in the waterfront park last year.

More than one year on, officers are determined to bring those who commit such crimes in Southampton to justice.

Inspector Andy Proctor said he is concerned about the “acceptance that these things happen and nothing is done about it”.

“We are clearly very motivated to respond to incidents of this nature and we take every report made to us very seriously.

“You shouldn’t come to The Common and expect to be exposed at regardless of the time, day, or location.

“It’s absolutely outrageous that people think that sort of behaviour is acceptable – it is not.”

He said victims or witnesses of such crimes should report it immediately as it will be treated as an emergency.

This will then help officers track down the offender, he added.

He added: “We will seek to commit resources promptly to maximise the opportunity we have of catching the individual near or close to the scene of the incident. “

In a video shared online, Hampshire Constabulary said: “Indecent exposure is not a joke.

“If you are convicted you face time in prison and you could be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.”

Last year, Detective Sergeant Paul Buckland told the Echo police received four reports of indecent exposure on May 2 within a couple of hours.

This indicated a level of offending that may escalate, he said.

People are urged to contact police if they have any information about the incidents, or to report an incident of indecent exposure.
