A group of staff from The Romsey School completed the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Romsey Young Carers.

The challenge, which took place on May 3 and 4, saw the team climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales—Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa.

Despite the fatigue, changing weather conditions, and more than 23 miles of hiking with nearly 3,000 metres of ascent, the team remained focused on their goal.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness of the work done by Romsey Young Carers, a charity that supports young people who care for a family member.

Chris Cove, deputy headteacher, said: "It was a tough challenge but all of the staff involved showed great determination and resilience climbing the 3 mountains, some of them during the middle of night in freezing conditions.

"The charity does amazing work with some of our most vulnerable pupils, and we’re proud to support it."

The school community is encouraged to continue supporting the campaign through the team’s fundraising page: gofundme.com/f/cgkq8-romsey-young-carers.

The team returned home with a sense of achievement, knowing their efforts will help make a real difference in the lives of young carers in Romsey.
