The New Forest District Council has given an update after announcing new changes to its waste collection service that will improve recycling and reduce waste.
Residents of New Milton, Brockenhurst, Lymington, and the surroundings areas are soon to be contacted by the council with information about its new waste collection service starting next month.
These residents are in the council's 'phase one area' for the new waste and recycling service, which is being rolled out in 3 area phases, starting from June 9.
Each household in phase one will receive a letter tailored to their property, which will confirm their new collection day, and the date of the first collection under the new service.
The letters will also include a reminder about whether they will use wheelie bins, communal bins, or sacks, for new waste collections.

For residents using wheelie bins or using sacks, the letter will include a 12-month collection calendar to guide residents though the first year of their new collections.
A leaflet will be included with each letter, explaining how to use the containers correctly and what materials go in each one.
Cllr Geoffrey Blunden, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability, said: “As a phase one resident, I was pleased to recently receive my wheelie bins and food waste recycling caddies, as part of our new waste collection service.
"The new bins and caddies will help me, and our residents, to recycle more, throw less away, and work together towards a more sustainable future for the district.
"I look forward to seeing the many benefits the new service will bring when it starts for phase one residents from the week of Monday 9 June 2025.”
The announcement of the bin collection changes has seen much backlash from some residents of the New Forest.
Wheelie bins are considered controversial by some residents - with the practice of leaving rubbish out in black sacks having been the norm in the Forest for many years.
