Police are continuing investigations following two stabbings in the city centre last week.
Additional stop and search powers were in place across the weekend with officers searching 15 people following two stabbings in the city centre.
Officers were called to Bernard Street at 10.50pm on Wednesday, May 14, where a 22-year-old was found with stab wounds after running into a nearby shop.
He suffered "life-changing injuries".
A 25-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
On Friday afternoon, police confirmed that a man in his 20s had been found with stab wounds in Argyle Road. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A 22-year-old from Southampton has been arrested following the incident.
Darren Paffey, MP for Southampton Itchen, said the arrests were reassuring.
He told the Echo: "I’m grateful to police for their swift and professional response and am pleased and reassured that arrests have already been made.
"This is in no small part thanks to the local community who have assisted police with their investigations and shown that people in our city stand united against this sort of deplorable violence."
In a statement, chief inspector Matthew Moss, said: “We are treating the two incidents as linked and involving people who are known to each other. As such, there is no wider threat to the community.
“Our teams and officers have been working tirelessly, around the clock, since these reports were first made to us.
“It is thanks to their hard work and the support and information from our communities that the investigation has progressed at a pace, evidenced by the arrests that have been made.
“I fully understand the significant concern that incidents such as these will have caused within the areas concerned, as well as the wider community.
“I hope the rapid developments in our investigation will offer you all reassurance that we are determined to bring those responsible to account, and that our relentless hard work and enquiries will continue to ensure this happens.”
Police are staging extra high visibility patrols, particularly in knife crime hot spots, as well as targeting repeat offenders.
One Argyle Road resident, who did now want to be named, said: "There are stabbings here. It is not safe. I don't know what the police are doing, they are checking. They are doing the patrolling during the day time.
"They have to do the patrols constantly here, it's not like they aren't coming here, they are. There's nothing wrong with [the residents] but instead all the dodgy people are coming here."
