A nurse, surgeon, and student are three of the 400 adventurers set to unite at the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race launch.

The Hampshire residents will take part in the event, which departs from Portsmouth in August.

The Clipper Race is unique in training non-professional sailors to race across the world's toughest oceans.

On May 17, the race crew found out at the launch event who they had been matched with.

"To announce that for a second edition running we will be back at Gunwharf Quays for our Race Start and Finish celebrations, and with the fleet based just over the water at our HQ in Gosport, it gives us the opportunity to re-engage with a local community that we know are invested in our race and its crew."
