Fire stations in Hampshire have their flags at half mast today to honour two firefighters who lost their lives tackling a large fire at a former RAF base.

The two firefighters and one member of the public died while at the blaze at Bicester Motion in Oxfordshire on Thursday.

Two further Oxfordshire firefighters suffered serious injuries and are in hospital.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "It is with the greatest sadness that we express our sincere condolences about the two firefighters in Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service who lost their lives in the line of duty while tackling a large fire at a former RAF base. 

"Our heartfelt thoughts go out to their families, friends and colleagues during this painful time. 

"In honour of our colleagues, we will have our flags at half-mast at our headquarters and fire stations."
