A man from New Milton has been jailed and had his ban from several chains of shops in Hampshire reiterated following thefts earlier this month.

David Graham Cullen, 35, of Dinham Road, was sentenced to eight weeks in prison and ordered to pay £70 in compensation at Southampton Magistrates' Court today.

It follows thefts from Marks & Spencer, Station Road on Friday 2 May and Nisa Local, Ashley Road on Monday 5 May.

Cullen received an interim Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at the same court on April 2.

It banned him from any Morrisons, Morrisons Daily, One Stop, Aldi, Superdrug, Co-op or Welcome Store in Hampshire.

Cullen breached the CBO between May 2 and May 5, two being at stores named above.

His sentence reflects the breaches of the order.

His CBO means he must also immediately leave any store, or business premises, when asked to do so by a member of staff.

He must place items that he wishes to purchase in a store/business premises in a basket or trolley provided by the store until they have been purchased. The basket or trolley must then be left behind.

Cullen's CBO also means he must not enter any retail or business premises from which he has been banned.
