A heritage steamship will offer views of high-speed racing at a prestigious event.

Southampton's steamship Shieldhall will be attending the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix in Portsmouth on July 19 and 20.

The steamship has secured a prime spot just outside the race exclusion zone, ensuring excellent views of the action.

The Shieldhall's itinerary for both days is as follows: the ship will leave Berth 110, Southampton Western Docks at midday, aiming to be at the anchorage point by 3pm.

The SailGP racing slot is between 4pm and 5.30pm, with the Shieldhall departing the anchorage at 5.30pm to return to Southampton Western Docks by 8.30pm.

The steamship, which boasts a variety of attractions, is set to provide guests with a full day out on the water.

The ship's steam-assisted steering gear, similar to that used on the Titanic, will also be on show.

Visitors will have the chance to converse with the captain and volunteer crew, listen to commentary on the sights and sounds of Southampton Water and The Solent, and pass close to large ocean liners and container ships.

Shieldhall's teak decks can be explored, and refreshments will be available in the saloon.

An interactive Shieldhall logbook will be available for children, allowing them to collect stickers from various stations on board.

Tickets for the event can be purchased for £69 for adults, £23 for children, and £161 for a family ticket (two adults, two children).

A 15 per cent discount is available for guests wishing to attend both days of the racing.
