A council team has collected more than 200 bags of rubbish from local dual carriageways.

The New Forest District Council's Streetscene team targeted five key routes in a fortnightly litter-picking drive.

The operation netted 70 bags from the M27, 50 from the A326, 60 from the A35, and 55 from the A354.

An area from Rushington to Redbridge yielded 50 bags and five tonnes of dirt.

A council spokesperson said: "Littering damages our environment and harms wildlife.

"Please dispose of rubbish responsibly and use bins where available or take it home with you."

The effort is part of the council's Look Out For Our Forest (LOFOF) campaign, which aims to combat littering in the New Forest.
