Turner Sims to host Summer Family Day in Southampton

Families are invited to participate in a variety of activities on June 29.

The event promises a day filled with performances, workshops, and plenty of opportunities to get hands-on with music and dance.

The Turner Sims Summer Family Day, taking place in the Turner Sims foyer and the gardens of Highfield Campus, will kick off at 11am and run until 4pm.

The venue has arranged for guests to bring their own picnic, or grab a bite from local food stalls.

The bar will be open all day, serving a selection of hot and cold beverages alongside ice cream.

One of the highlights of the day is the performance by Fox & Rocha titled "The Sleeping Seeds".

Fox & Rocha present The Sleeping Seeds (Image: Janthra Photography) This show, suitable for children aged two and above, features a blend of voice, harp, strings, and unique instruments like watering cans and trowels.

As well as this, families can experience Little Seeds Music's "Tales from the Lighthouse", a show brimming with myths, magic, music, and folklore.

Both these shows take place in the main auditorium, with all tickets priced at £5.

Other activities scheduled for the day include a music-making workshop by Yes! Creative Beats and performances from local young talents at the Community Stage, presented by Southampton and Isle of Wight Music Hub.

The event also features a unique dance theatre introduction by Ascension Dance, which uses movement and willow to spark imagination and creative thinking.

Both craft activities and face painting will be offered throughout the day in the Turner Sims foyer.
