Bottles of water were suddenly delivered to properties in Southampton on Sunday as a precaution to an issue detected at a Southern Water supply works plant.
The utility company confirmed to the Echo that there was no loss of supply but that Otterbourne Water Supply Works did temporarily shut down.
A spokesperson for Southern Water said: “Due to a temporary technical issue at Otterbourne Water Supply Works on Sunday, our teams carried out a precautionary delivery of bottled water to those on our Priority Services Register in the local area - as per usual protocols.
“The issue was quickly resolved, with no impact on supplies, and the site is working as normal.”

Southern Water CEO Lawrence Gosden told the Echo in an exclusive interview in March that there is a "small but elevated risk" of issues at the Otterbourne plant while works are underway.
“The simple truth is to why it happened is that we are rebuilding, as part of the turnaround of Southern Water, the Testwood Water Supply Plant and the Otterbourne water supply plant,” he said.
“As we rebuild it, there is a risk profile associated with that. We’re doing everything we can to reduce that."
