Formula 1 World Champion Jody Scheckter has put his Hampshire estate on the market for £58 million.

Laverstoke Park Estate, near Overton, is considered one of the finest country estates in southern England, centred around an exceptional Grade II listed mansion house which was once a regular haunt of Jane Austen.

The land used for the CarFest event will not be sold in any of the three lots available, the house, park and Home Farm priced at £35 million, £15 million Turrill Hill Farm and £8 million Berrydown Farm.

The estate features the Grade II Listed Palladian Laverstoke House and Grade II Listed parkland, and a portfolio of houses and cottages.

It extends to 1,835 acres with about 1,279 acres of organically certified organic farmland, areas of strategically planted mature woodland, a spectacular shoot and 1.5 miles of double bank of the world renowned upper banks of the River Test.

Originating from 1798 the house is now an impressive 48,663 sq ft, including 11 bedrooms and bathrooms, four flats, an indoor swimming pool, tennis court and squash court.

Celebrated author Jane Austen lived nearby and was a frequent visitor due to a family connection.

Crispin Holborow, joint Head of Savills Private Office, was involved in the sale of Laverstoke Park to the Scheckters, along with the landed element some years later, and has seen it evolve into what he describes as 'one of the most important estates in the south of England'.

Will Matthews, Head of Farms and Estates at Knight Frank, added on the rare sale: "It ticks all of the boxes. From the stunning main house, to indoor pool and tennis court, garaging and even an African hut, to the River Test and the wider estate – it really does have it all!"
