A commemorative event was held in anticipation of the 80th Victory in Europe Day in Fareham.

The Catisfield Garden Club presented an event in the Memorial Hall, built to honour the lives lost in World War Two.

At the event, local historian Doug Glading presented his book, which records the history of locals who died in the war.

He said: "I am honoured to present my book recording the histories of those local residents who died during the war.

"Their names are inscribed on the plaque in the Hall and have been seen by tens of thousands of people over all the decades.

"Now we have documented the stories of how and where each died."

The event included a presentation on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

The Catisfield Memorial Hall committee is made up of people with military operational experience, including a former Royal Marine and three veterans who served in the Royal Navy.
