A care home has raised more than £2,000 for charity in its first year.

Rownhams Manor care home celebrated its first anniversary with a party attended by the Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Ian Jeffrey.

The care home, in Rownhams, which opened last year, has raised over £2,150 for eight local charities.

To mark the milestone, the care home hosted a party for residents, staff, families, and friends, featuring live music, dancing, and a cake.

Shirley Manning, aged 89, was the first resident to move into Rownhams Manor in May last year.

She said: "I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for this care home and all the staff.

"I have enjoyed being at Rownhams and wouldn’t be without them."

Another resident, Elva Anderson, who made Rownhams Manor her home in November last year, said: "I came to stay for a while last year and when I returned home, I missed the staff and other residents and wanted to come back permanently, so I did.

"I enjoy the activities and the company."

Cllr Jeffrey, the Mayor of Test Valley, praised the care home, saying: "Thank you for inviting me to visit Rownhams Manor, which was a positive experience in every respect.

"The architects of the building and gardens have thought of everything to create an all-round homely and caring experience for the residents."

Samantha Squibb, the general manager at Rownhams Manor, said: "Today’s celebration has reflected everything we strive to achieve at Rownhams Manor.

"Our team is dedicated to delivering outstanding care, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the strong sense of community that has grown in our home over the past year.

"We’d like to thank everyone who came to celebrate our first anniversary with us, and we hope to see you all again soon at another fantastic Rownhams Manor event."
