A care home is aiming to change the perception of care home food.

Templeton Place Care Home, in Hurst Way, Nursling, recently hosted a three-course lunch in its private dining room.

The event, called 'Taste of Templeton,' was designed to show the high-quality food residents enjoy every day.

The food at the care home is prepared by multi-award-winning chef Clifford McCrea, sous chef Samuel Lavell, and their team.

Clifford said: "Food is an incredibly important part of all our lives – for many residents here, it's the highlight of their day.

"Many people assume that care home food is basic and unimaginative, which couldn't be further from the truth in our home.

"We take pride in offering options that are delicious and nutritious, prepared with seasonal produce that's fresh and high-quality.

The home manager, Kay Mitchell, said the dining experience goes beyond just providing physical sustenance for residents.

She said: "Mealtimes at our home are good for the body and the mind because residents get to socialise together and share superb, nourishing food.

"Our beautiful private dining room gives residents a place to invite their friends and family to share meals so they can create lovely memories together.

"We have the deepest respect for each resident's preferences, so our chef team takes the time to get to know their likes and dislikes, any dietary, cultural, or religious requirements.

"We were thrilled to host 'The Taste of Templeton' event so our guests could see that care home food can be just as amazing as what they'd get if they went to a fancy restaurant.

"We’re delighted to be able to offer this high quality to our residents every day."

Templeton Place Care Home is part of Hamberley Care Homes, which won residential care home provider of the year at the 2022 HealthInvestor Awards.
