A footpath in Otterbourne will be closed to the public for urgent bridge repairs.

Otterbourne Footpath 2 was closed to the public on April 25 after two bridges were found to need urgent repairs, Hampshire County Council has announced.

The closure was initially set for 21 days or until the path is deemed safe.

However, the council has now extended this closure until October 25, or until the repairs are complete.

This move, according to the council, has been made to prevent any potential danger to the public.

The county council has advised walkers to use the alternative route via Kiln Lane, Colden Common Footpath 1, and Highbridge Road.

Updates will be provided on the Hampshire County Council's public notices webpage.

The repairs are being overseen by Jonathan Woods, the countryside strategic manager.

His office is located at The Castle, Winchester, with postcode SO23 8UD.

The council is working to complete the repairs as quickly as possible, with public safety being a priority.
