A power cut has left homes without electricity in Chandler’s Ford.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) received reports of a power outage shortly after 4.30am on Sunday morning, affecting homes in Salcombe Close and School Lane.

SSEN stated as many as one in three houses could be affected by the power outage, following a fault on the energy company’s underground network.

Engineers are working to restore power to the area by 10.30am.

In a statement, a spokesperson for SSEN, said: “We’re aware of a fault on our local network affecting several homes.

“Our engineers are in your local area and working hard to get your power restored as soon as possible.

“The cause of the power cut is a fault on our underground network. This is the most common type of fault we see, and our teams are very experienced in dealing with these issues.

“In most cases, our engineers are able to get your power back on by simply replacing a fuse at the local substation, however, if the fault is severe this may take us longer to fix.”
