A Southampton teacher has raised more than £2,800 for charity after completing the London Marathon.
Melissa Down took on the 26.2-mile challenge on Sunday, April 27, to raise funds for the National Deaf Children’s Society.
She chose to support the charity after teaching a deaf child last year.
Melissa said: "I ran for this charity because last year I was very privileged to have taught a deaf child.
"My sister-in-law actually works for the National Deaf Children’s Society and she told me about all the wonderful things they do for deaf children and their families.
"I knew this was the charity I wanted to run for."

Melissa, who lives in Southampton with her husband Phil and their three children, said the support from the crowds, her family, and the charity kept her going during the marathon.

She added: "It was very warm, but the phenomenal crowds, my family, the charity, all those who’d sponsored me and supported me and of course the children I was doing this for, they all kept me going.
"I feel very proud to have done this."
Melissa Jones, who supports fundraisers for the National Deaf Children’s Society, said: "I want to say a huge thank you to Melissa for taking on this challenge for us."
