The death of a man believed to be in his 60s is being treated as "unexplained", police on the Isle of Wight have said.

A body was found at an address, a former shop, on Carisbrooke Road, Newport at 11.48am this morning (Wednesday).

The alarm was raised by a member of the public, who flagged concerns with police.

The body of a man, believed to be in his 60s, was subsequently discovered.

His death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious at this time, police said.

A file is being prepared for the coroner.
