THE Bishop’s Waltham Town Team is holding a Give and Take event to reduce waste in the town. The event will be at St George’s Square, Bishop’s Waltham, on Saturday, May 31 from 10.30am to 2.30pm. There will be a free exchange stall where visitors can give, take or give and take items such as DIY and garden tools, equipment and materials.
BISHOP’S Waltham in Bloom is looking for volunteers to help prepare the town flower beds for planting later in May. The volunteers are needed on Saturday, May 3, from 9.30am to 11.30am – just turn up by the gates to the Palace Ruins with your trowel or fork and the team will be delighted with the help.
Bishop’s Waltham in Bloom is also looking for volunteers to help water and maintain the flower beds and hanging baskets in town. The team are seeking to recruit one or two people to help with watering from May to September. This won't be a daily task - a rota will be established to share the watering responsibilities to suit each member of the team. Watering takes approximately two hours per day either early each morning or late evening when there is little traffic in the centre of town. MI BELLO Lugar are at Giorgio's Mediterranean Restaurant and Bar, in Bishop’s Waltham, on Wednesday, May 7 for a craft cider launch and apple juice tasting event. Starting from 6pm, the event will allow attendees to sample traditional ciders and apple juices. There is no need to book; for more information, call 07790 146847.
THE next Stitchers Comedy Club in Wickham will take place on Friday, July 4. Held at the Wickham Community Centre from 8pm to 10.15pm, the show will feature Stephen Bailey and Jonny Pelham, and will be headlined by Live at the Apollo and Mock the Week star Zoe Lyons. The event will be MCed by Tom Glover. Tickets cost £20 and are available to buy on the Stitchers Comedy Club website.
THE Bishop’s Waltham Bike Bus will be arriving soon. The initiative is being organised by Greening Bishop’s Waltham, and aims to support pupils and parents at Bishop's Waltham Infant and Junior Schools to safely travel to and from school under pedal power. The provisional dates for the bike bus are June 6, June 13, June 20 and June 27. The likely starting point is at Clover Way in NewTown (Bishop's Waltham) and the total distance will be about 1.7 miles. Those interested need to contact the Greening Bike Bus team by emailing bikebus21@gmail.com or speaking to their school. There will be a preliminary meeting at 6pm on Thursday, May 1, at the Junior School.
THE next Bishop’s Waltham Photo Society members forum is on Thursday, May 29, from 7.30pm to 10pm at St Peter’s Church Hall, Free Street. This member’s forum will solicit members’ views on various topics before making firm decisions. Further topics for discussion should be forwarded to Dan membersrep@bishopswalthamphotosociety.co.uk. There will also be a chance to look at the images of the latest challenge.
