Work on the M27 junction ten near Fareham is is causing a number of road closures and drivers are being warned.

A giant ‘guide slab’ has been constructed alongside the motorway to be used to slide a huge underpass into position later this year, using an innovative box slide engineering technique.

The formation of the guide slab, which was cast in three phases during February and March, has been a complex operation involving 1,000 cubic metres of concrete.

As part of the construction programme, four overnight closures are needed on the A32 near M27 junction ten, starting on Tuesday, April 29, from 9pm to 6am.

This is to allow BT to undertake essential cabling diversion work.

Improvements are being made to support the development of Welborne Garden Village, a new community of up to 6,000 homes just outside Fareham in Hampshire, and to provide easier access to the M27 at this location.

Hampshire County Council is delivering the scheme, working closely with National Highways.
