New owners have confirmed that they will be taking over a pub that was set to close "until further notice".

Landlord Steve, Simon and the rest of the team running The Brambridge Arms at Colden Common shared that "with great sadness", the pub would be closing its doors.

But now the owners of several pubs in the area, Taste The World, confirmed online that they would be taking over and renovating the pub in mid-May.

The group runs eight pubs in Hampshire and beyond, having the likes of The Old George in Fair Oak and The Hunters Inn in Romsey in its portfolio.

A Facebook post from the Rising Sun pub in Colden Common, which is run by Taste The World, said that it would be adding The Brambridge Arms to its group.

The new owners said: "After lots of negotiation with the brewery, we are very pleased to announce that we have reached a deal that will allow us not only to take over this beautiful pub and keep the doors open, but also to invest significantly in its long-term future.

"At this stage, we want to thank Steve and the rest of his team for the fantastic job they have done in keeping both pubs in the village so loved — each for very different reasons.

"This is something we very much hope to continue."

The new owners said that they will be picking up the keys on May 15, with refurbishment works "due to start straight away" with the aim to reopen by the end of May.

They also said that they want to "retain as many of the wonderful staff" as they can "where possible".

The new owners added: "We are delighted to announce that Richard will be reinstated as Head Chef, and we have some fantastic plans, including the introduction of a Sunday Carvery.

"We are incredibly proud of the work we have done at The Rising Sun over the past 18 months, and we hope the village will continue to support both pubs as we move forward."

The pub was previously named "The Dog and Crook", and a remark from the new owners on Facebook suggests it could revert to its old name.
