A new wooden shelter could be constructed at Manor Farm to protect visitors from weather.

Hampshire County Council has submitted a planning application to construct a single wooden shelter at Manor Farm Country Park in Bursledon.

Manor Farm is a popular outdoor visitor attraction, welcoming over 120,000 people annually.

The site is an attraction to local young families. It offers educational experiences about traditional farming, animals and nature, attracting schools.

With the installation of the shelter, the county council aims to provide a “suitably sized” covered space for the growing number of visitors since, currently, there is limited shelter for people.

The application said: “Over the last few years, the farm has used a commercial marquee as a temporary solution. This proved popular with visitors during wet weather but also on sunny days for shade. The farm is now looking to install a permanent structure.”

The shelter will be located at the centre of the farm, near the toilets and the play barns.
