A Royal Navy officer is set to run his first marathon to raise money for a Salisbury charity.

Peter Macaulay, 33, will join nearly 53,700 runners in the TCS London Marathon on Sunday, April 27.

The former Coombe Bissett Primary School and Bishop Wordsworth's School pupil will be raising money for Salisbury-based homeless charity Alabaré.

The charity supports the homeless and vulnerable across the UK.

Peter has spent the last four months training through the British winter to get ready for the 26.2-mile challenge.

He said: "I’ve never run more than a half marathon before, so stepping up to the full distance has been a huge challenge.

"But every time I’ve wanted to stop, I’ve thought about Alabaré and the amazing work they do, and it’s given me a massive boost."

Alabaré offers support to thousands of people each year through housing, drop-in centres, and specialist care.

Peter has been especially moved by the charity’s work with UK veterans, helping former service members find homes, overcome addiction, and rebuild their lives.

He said: "As someone currently serving, it means a lot to me that Alabaré is there for veterans when they need it most.

"Running for them feels like more than just a fundraiser—it feels like giving something back."

Peter is calling on the local community to help him reach his fundraising goal before race day.

He said: "I’ve been so touched by the support so far. Every donation—no matter how big or small—means the world to me and to the people Alabaré helps."

You can support Peter by visiting the Enthuse 2025 TCS London Marathon page and searching for "Peter Macaulay".

Peter added: "Whether you donate, share the page, or just take a moment to learn more about Alabaré, thank you.

"I’ll be thinking of all my supporters every step of the way."
