An arts society event in Sidmouth explored the world of Grayson Perry.

The lecture, titled Pots and Frocks - The World of Grayson Perry, was delivered by Ian Swankie at the Manor Pavilion on April 2.

Sidmouth Arts Society said the audience was left in "no doubt" about Perry’s colourful personality and creative talents.

Perry is known for his work with ceramics, textiles, tapestries, and prints, as well as his engaging presence as a broadcaster.

He has created a vivid persona through his feminine alter ego, Claire, often seen in patterned frocks, a blond wig, and make-up.

Perry has transformed the ceramics world, making it a platform for political and social commentary, and inspiring shows like The Great Pottery Throw Down.

Ian Swankie’s lecture reportedly captured Perry’s passion and contribution to the arts.

The Arts Society Sidmouth has announced its next lecture will focus on The Elgin Marbles displayed in the British Museum.

The talk will take place at the Manor Pavilion on Wednesday, May 7.

Doors open at 10am for refreshments, with the lecture starting at 10.40am.

The society encourages people to join for an "interesting and social morning" in a "warm and friendly atmosphere."
