An ambulance was called, with Mr Hill taken to hospital. However, he died en route between Brechin and Dundee.

The preliminary cause of death has been given as carbon monoxide poisoning, believed to be from a domestic gas heater.

Tom's family has been campaigning to raise awareness of carbon monoxide poisoning and fundraising in Tom's name.

His dad Jerry said: "Tom was a huge part of our family. We all miss him terribly and think about him all of the time. He was a very positive person, he overcame alot of obstacles to get where he wanted to be. Everyone he knew could see what a kind thoughtful person he was.

"It's so tragic for someone to lose their life at just 18. We are hoping that his case will raise awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide. Please make sure you have a carbon monoxide alarm and know what to do if it goes off."

The family is raising money for CO-Gas Safety by climbing a mountain in Wales called Tryfan on May 4. To donate to the cause, go to their Go Fund Me page gofund.me/0b8ae3ed
