A woman and her elderly mum are both being "constantly deafened" by loud motorbikes and cars speeding through Woolston day and night.
As a petition was launched by Centenary Quay residents last week to tackle reckless motorbike riders, Tracey Goddard told the Echo that she "cannot escape" the noise.
She lives near her elderly mum Pauline, 72, of Malmesbury Court, who has a heart condition that causes subsequent health issues.
Tracey fears that the noise could cause further issues for her mum, and says that getting something done about the situation is "like bashing your head against a brick wall".
"The noise is absolutely diabolical," Tracey said.
"Mum told me she can’t even have a nap. She has a heart condition so she does need to rest, but she can’t do that."

She explained that her mum sent her a voice note on WhatsApp on Sunday and "you could hear the motorbike going past like it was in the room with her".
Pauline says the junction between Victoria Road and Station Road is particularly where the bikers "rev" their engines - directly opposite the care home she lives in.

"If one of those things rev up next to you, it’s enough to give you a heart attack," she said.
"If you’re living with it, there’s no way to get away from it, especially for my mum, there’s nowhere to go. She’s at her wits end with it.
"She came out of hospital recently and she’s unable to get out and about on her own, it’s difficult because she has to live with it 24/7 with no escape from it. It’s enough to drive you insane."

Tracey argued that the "dangerousness of the speed" the vehicles are driving at "puts you on edge all of the time".

"It’s all day and all night. I don’t know what these people are doing or what it is they are attending, they can’t all live in this area. There must be some kind of meet."
Tracey backs the petition, which demands that local authorities take “immediate action” and wants to see an increase in police patrols in the area, particularly at night.
Petition organisers want authorities to implement noise cameras and CCTV to catch offenders, while also making sure that illegally modified vehicles are seized.
