A 17th-century Somerset pub with "mismatched chairs" and "exposed beams" has been named among the cosiest in the UK.

The Three Swans in Frome was featured alongside 29 others in a list from the Financial Times.

Writers and editors from the publication picked out their favourite cosy pubs from around the UK to spotlight.

These aim to bring attention to some great establishments that offer comfort no matter the weather outside.

Why is The Three Swans in Frome among the cosiest in the UK?

The Three Swans was one of the picks of Rosanna Dodds, commission editor of the HTSI, the luxury lifestyle magazine of the Financial Times.

She wrote: "Most of Frome’s treasures are found at the top of Catherine Hill, the town’s main shopping street, home to vintage boutiques, quirky cafés – and treacherous cobbles.

"Save yourself the climb and head to The Three Swans on King Street.

"One of the oldest pubs in Frome, it has mismatched chairs – some regal, some wooden – exposed beams and a stack of classic board games.

"You’ll find me in the corner eating their ham, egg and chips (£10)."

On its website, The Three Swans describes itself as "small in size but big in character" with the aim to provide a homely feel to all who enter.

It adds: "The stoves in every room of the pub help to create a warm, cozy atmosphere on the colder days of the year, and the quaint courtyard serves as a great space to enjoy the afternoon sunshine as well a shelter to hide from the rain."

Dogs are welcome in the pub, as long as they are kept on a lead, and biscuits can be bought for them as well.

The Three Swans has also been well-received by customers, with it earning a 4.6/5 score on Tripadvisor from 56 reviews.
