A borough council is investigating two large fly-tipping incidents.

Rubbish believed to be from a restaurant was dumped on Allington Lane on or around April 4.

Another pile, thought to be from a bathroom refurbishment due to the large amount of carpet and underlay, was also found in the area.

Despite having CCTV footage of the latter incident, the vehicle registration could not be read.

A spokesperson for Eastleigh Borough Council said: "Fly-tipping is a criminal offence under The Environmental Protection Act 1990, and causes damage to the environment, risks public health and costs taxpayers to clean up.

"You could be fined, or you may face prosecution if you hire an unlicensed waste carrier and your waste gets fly-tipped."

Those found guilty of fly-tipping face prosecution, an unlimited fine, and up to five years in prison, or they may receive a fixed penalty notice.

The council has issued 18 fixed penalty notices for offences, including fly-tipping from June 2024 to date.

Anyone with information on the Allington Lane incidents is urged to report it in confidence via the link on the reporting page of the Eastleigh Borough Council website.
