A Hampshire man has said he is determined to “put a smile on people’s faces” with the launch of his new mobile coffee van.
Chris Delin, 47, moved to Gosport last year after gaining more than two decades of experience in the service and retail industry in London.
A self-confessed fan of coffee, Chris has invested around £40,000 into a brand-new mobile coffee van – called The Daily Grind – to offer customers an alternative to the usual high street cafes.
Speaking to the Echo, he said: “A couple of decades ago I ran Café Nero in Oxford Street.
“After doing different jobs I wanted to take things to the next level and I thought if I’m able to provide quality coffee, I can do something a bit different with a mobile coffee van as I haven’t seen anything else like this in the area.
“I want to do something a bit different and put a smile on people’s faces. I’ve designed the van using AI and made it bright and colourful, so it stands out and gives a flavour of what we’re about.
“The van is being wrapped at the moment and I’m just waiting to hear from the council, so I can get permission to trade from a specific spot and we can start as soon as possible, but they’ve been very supportive.”

With a selection of coffees, smoothies, and snacks – all onboard a unique coffee van with a state-of-the-art solar panel system – Chris hopes to do more than just serve the local community.
He said: “One of the advantages for me is that I’m a mobile business, I don’t have the same overheads as other companies.
“Obviously every business wants to make a profit, but I don’t want to do it at the expense of the people in the community.
“I don’t think anyone else has come up with something like this. Further down the line I’d like to create jobs and have one or two people working with me.
“I hope it’s something that will catch on in the area and be of benefit.”
