Mrs Rhodes-Kemp said that Mr Flegg had worked as a pipe fitter for a number of years, and that it was likely he had come into contact with asbestos while working.
The preliminary cause of death has been given as bronchopneumonia and mesothelioma.
Mrs Rhodes-Kemp adjourned the inquest to take place in full on February 24, 2026. She has requested that Mr Flegg's work history and exposure history be produced by that time.
